What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid (HA) — a naturally occurring substance in the skin that provides hydration, structure, and elasticity. When carefully injected beneath the skin, fillers immediately replenish volume, smooth fine lines, and enhance facial definition without the need for surgery.
Whether you’re looking to plump your lips, soften smile lines, or lift your midface, dermal fillers offer a safe and effective way to restore youthful harmony and confidence.
Common treatment areas include:
We offer filler treatments for the following facial areas:
-
Add subtle or full volume, enhance shape, and improve symmetry.
-
Restore contour and structure to lift and define.
-
Smooth smile lines between the nose and mouth.
-
Soften downward creases at the corners of the mouth.
-
Create definition and balance the lower face.
-
Reduce hollowness and refresh tired eyes (based on candidacy).
Each treatment is fully customized to your anatomy and goals, ensuring proportional, natural results that age gracefully.

Skinvive Lip Hydration
Skinvive is a hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable designed to improve skin smoothness and hydration rather than to add structural volume. It is a skin booster, not a traditional filler. In the lips and perioral area it is used to soften fine lines and improve the hydration and quality of the tissue itself, and some patients also see subtle softening of shape. If your goal is meaningful lip volume, lip filler is the better tool, and Dr. Bonato will tell you so.
Skinvive lip hydration starts at $450, performed by Alexander Bonato, MD with ultrasound guidance included. Which option fits your goals is decided at your free consultation. Results build gradually and vary from person to person.
Ultrasound-Guided Filler Injection
Dr. Bonato uses high-frequency ultrasound during filler treatment to visualize the blood vessels beneath the skin before product is placed. Facial vascular anatomy varies considerably between individuals — the textbook map is not always your map, and imaging shows where your vessels actually run rather than where they are expected to. The same imaging can locate previously placed filler, which matters if product ever needs to be dissolved precisely rather than broadly.
Ultrasound guidance does not eliminate the risk of vascular occlusion, and no technique does. It is one layer of preparation alongside slow injection, small volumes, appropriate depth, and hyaluronidase kept on site. Ultrasound is not yet routine in aesthetic practice, and it is included in every filler treatment here at no additional charge.
How Much Does Filler Dissolving Cost in Medford?
Dissolving hyaluronic acid filler starts at $300 per vial of Hylenex® (hyaluronidase), with ultrasound guidance included. How many vials you need depends on how much filler is present and how long it has been there, which is assessed at your free consultation.
Ultrasound matters more here than almost anywhere else: it lets Dr. Bonato locate the filler that is actually causing the problem so it can be targeted, rather than flooding the area and dissolving product you wanted to keep. Hyaluronidase only works on hyaluronic acid fillers — it cannot dissolve calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, or permanent fillers.
You do not need to have had your filler placed here. Many patients come to have work dissolved that was done somewhere else.

FAQs
-
Most hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane® and Juvéderm®, last 6 to 12 months, depending on the treatment area, your metabolism, and the product used. Areas with more movement, like the lips, may break down slightly faster, while midface fillers tend to last longer.
-
Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites for a few days, which can be easily concealed with makeup after 24 hours. Most patients resume normal activities immediately following treatment.
-
Absolutely. At Bonato MD Aesthetics, Dr. Bonato’s approach focuses on balance and proportion — never overfilling. Using advanced injection techniques and medical-grade products, your results will look refined, natural, and harmonized with your features.
-
Discomfort is minimal. All dermal and lip filler treatments are performed with a nerve block, significantly reducing any pain or sensitivity during the procedure. Most patients describe the experience as pressure or slight pinching rather than pain.
-
Both Restylane® and Juvéderm® are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers that provide smooth, long-lasting results. The difference lies in their texture and formulation — Restylane tends to offer more structure for shaping, while Juvéderm offers a softer, plumping effect. Dr. Bonato will recommend the best product based on your treatment goals and anatomy.
How Much Does Dermal Filler Cost in Medford?
Filler is $700 per syringe — flat. Not "starting at," not dependent on which product we choose, and not subject to an upcharge if your plan calls for a premium formulation. Lip filler is the same $700 per syringe and includes a dental nerve block if you want one. How many syringes you need is decided at your free consultation based on your anatomy and goals, not sold in advance.
That price includes ultrasound guidance, which is not yet routine in aesthetic practice. Every filler treatment is performed by Alexander Bonato, MD — the product in the syringe matters less than the judgment and anatomy training of the person holding it, and that part is already included.
