What to Expect During Your Consultation
Your initial GLP-1 consultation is a comprehensive 30-minute medical appointment focused on understanding your health history, lifestyle, and weight-loss goals.
During your visit, Dr. Bonato will:
Review your medical background and current medications
Conduct a weigh-in and baseline assessment
Discuss your goals, challenges, and expectations
Order laboratory tests to evaluate overall health and rule out underlying conditions
Explain GLP-1 medications (FDA approved Tirzepatide) — how they work, potential benefits, and side effects
Create a personalized treatment plan, including dosage and monitoring schedule
This step ensures you receive a program that is safe, effective, and sustainable, supported by expert medical oversight every step of the way.
Does Bonato MD use compounded or brand-name GLP-1 medication?
Bonato MD Aesthetics prescribes only FDA-approved, brand-name Zepbound® (tirzepatide), dispensed through Eli Lilly's official self-pay program. We do not prescribe compounded semaglutide or compounded tirzepatide. This matters: compounded GLP-1 medications are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Compounded programs are often priced lower, which is exactly why the distinction is worth asking about wherever you go. Treatment is managed by Alexander Bonato, MD, a physician board-certified in Internal Medicine, who reviews your full medical history, screens for contraindications including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, and monitors you throughout. Zepbound is not appropriate for everyone, and a consultation determines candidacy.
Understanding GLP-1 Medications
GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) receptor agonists are an advanced, FDA-approved class of medications originally developed for diabetes and now widely recognized for their effectiveness in medical weight loss.
These injections help regulate appetite, improve insulin sensitivity, and slow digestion, allowing you to:
Feel full longer
Reduce food cravings
Support consistent fat loss
Improve metabolic function and blood sugar balance
Under Dr. Bonato’s supervision, GLP-1 therapy becomes part of a comprehensive medical program focused on both body composition and long-term wellness.
Benefits of a Physician-Led GLP-1 Weight Loss Program
Safe, customized treatment with medical oversight
Steady, sustainable weight loss over time
Improved energy, metabolism, and overall health
Ongoing support, education, and monitoring
Convenient monthly check-ins for dose adjustments and refills
Unlike generic online programs, our approach ensures your dosage, progress, and well-being are continuously evaluated by a licensed physician who understands your full medical picture.

FAQs
-
You’ll meet with Dr. Bonato to review your health history, discuss your goals, and determine if GLP-1 medication is the right fit. Labs may be ordered to ensure safe treatment.
-
GLP-1 medications mimic a natural hormone that regulates appetite and blood sugar. At Bonato MD Aesthetics, we exclusively prescribe brand-name, FDA-approved Zepbound® (tirzepatide).
-
Many patients begin noticing appetite changes and gradual weight loss within 4–6 weeks of starting their injections, with continued improvement over several months.
-
GLP-1 receptor agonists are FDA-approved and, for appropriate candidates under medical supervision, generally well tolerated — but they are not right for everyone. Zepbound® carries a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors and is not prescribed to patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, diarrhea, constipation — and are usually most noticeable during dose escalation. Less common but serious risks include pancreatitis and gallbladder disease. Dr. Bonato reviews your full medical history, screens for these contraindications, and monitors you throughout treatment. Your consultation covers the complete risk profile before anything is prescribed.
-
Every individual’s health profile is unique. The consultation allows Dr. Bonato to evaluate your needs, order appropriate labs, and design a safe, personalized plan before treatment begins.
How Much Does GLP-1 Weight Loss Cost in Medford?
The medical visit is $100 per month. That is what you pay Bonato MD Aesthetics.
The medication is separate, and you buy it directly from the manufacturer: Dr. Bonato sends your prescription to Eli Lilly's self-pay program, you pay Lilly at their price, and this practice receives nothing from the sale of the medication. We do not mark it up, we do not dispense it, and we have no financial interest in which dose you are on.
That is also part of why we prescribe only brand-name Zepbound® rather than compounded copies — there is no margin to protect either way. Your consultation is free.
